Bourdieu’s Masculine Domination offers a more comprehensive social theory of gender than Connell’s Hegemonic Masculinity. As recommended by Bourdieu, any intervention by the State or any organization needs to take into account both the ideological structures as well as material structures, for any transformation in the gender order.
